AllPeers FireFox plugin review
At the moment of writing, the AllPeers FireFox plugin is almost going live. Through a sneaky way I could already get access to the beta. I'm writing this article at the same time that I'm test-driving AllPeers. So this is a review from a first time user, just like many of you probably will be.
When AllPeers is installed, you see the AllPeers toolbar and AllPeers Navigator sidebar. At first sight this seems like screen waste to be honest. Integrating the toolbar into the sidebar, would make more sense to me. Also the replacement of the FireFox logo doesn't make sense. Put the logo in the sidebar if you want to do branding.
The AllPeers Navigator sidebar holds your contacts. You can simply add a contact by using the "Add A Contact" button in the toolbar. After that, more screen clutter, the right side of the window is now also claimed by AllPeers. Once again: my browser is a sacred place. Please re-use the AllPeers navigator sidebar.
Once you added a contact you can share all sorts of things. Files (of course), complete directories, but more important: links, text from a website, and probably even more. This is also AllPeers does:sharing, although AllPeers uses too much screen space, it seems do sharing quite right. In fact, it was very easy to do. However I hope that in the future they will focus on integrating with several other websites, like Flickr.com, GMail and Yahoo Calendar.
AllPeers is quite a nice FireFox plugin, however they need to remove the unnecessary screen clutter if they want to stay in my FireFox. The coming days I will still be using AllPeers since I'm curious on using it on a daily basis. I also hope that in the future they will integrate with several other websites.
